McCain and "The Woman"
If you haven't heard by now, John McCain is caught up in a possible sex scandal. In all of the coverage, especially the cable news networks, they always refer to Vicki Iseman (the person he supposedly had the relationship with) as "the woman." They hardly ever use her name. While super unfair, it seems to me they making McCain look like the victim here. Even with the worst case senerio, he loses his presidential bid but maintains his seemingly perpetual Senate seat. Has anyone stopped and thought about what this has done to Iseman? They both deny anything happened, but I'm sure she is the one that will have to suffer long term consequences.

The media, the media... As the great political theorist/activist Noam Chomsky reiterated --> The media truly "manufacture consent".
The Fark headline for this story was: "John McCain in possible sex scandal. Republicans seen thanking lucky stars it involves an adult woman." I think some people have been downplaying the issue for just that reason.
Heh... but besides that, it's interesting to see how republicans are just using this as an excuse to jump all over the NYT (AKA "THE LIBERAL MEDIA!!" *spooky ghost noises*).
Hmmmm... now that the Spitzer scandal has emerged how does this McCain stuff look in light of it?
